Lynn has won first prize in the Minute of Music “Trumpetoon” competition, 2019. The term, “Trumpetoon,” refers to a duet for trumpet and bassoon. Her piece, The Little Buffalo, was selected.
Here’s what the founder of the competition, Jason Taurins, said about the contest:
“It was designed to promote the writing of new music for trumpet, in miniature form. With the time constraints on all of us, a minute of music is not a huge deal, relatively, to sit down and write, listen to, or perform a piece of music. It’s also an interesting puzzle to create a compelling piece of music with such limited means.”
A monetary award came with the prize but Lynn has asked Jason to donate it to a music student or to use it for future competitions.
